Good morning,

Thank you all for your recent responses to my question regarding waiting periods for Emeritus nomination. I now have a follow up question:

Does anyone have a policy that addresses employment following retiring (from the same institution)?

Thank you!

Lynda,
If we do, it's part of other policies. For example, there are three
optional retirement programs for tenured faculty and Professional Academic
and Administrative employees with continuous appointments. In these
policies, there is this language:

*The individual may not negotiate future University employment prior to
termination and may not rehire at the University for a minimum of 6 months
following the Last Day of Employment. Any employment following the Last Day
of Employment is limited to 19.5 hours per week (non-benefits-eligible).
Individuals may also contract as an independent contractor, if eligible.*

We do not have a global policy on this topic.

Cheers,
Michele

Here is Ohio State's policy, which is heavily informed by the requirements of our public retirement systems, and which from time to time causes controversy... If you want to discuss, feel free to call me...
